Halloween 2009

Strange thing - my favorite part of Halloween this year was helping the kids make their costumes.  It was a good time trying to figure out how to do it together.  Once I remembered how to use a sewing machine - the rest wasn't too hard and we had a good time.

Sanding and painting wands (we cut some branches from our trees):

My little Gryffindor team:

We also had a great time decorating pumpkins:

Bazinks had painted the sun fighting the moon, and then the water fighting the sun, and then a man in the water, and several other interesting things,  as you can see:

A little girl pumpkin and a little Harry Potter pumpkin:

Voldermort and Scabbers pumpkins (maybe we're a little obsessed around here):

Boo-berry ghost pancakes for breakfast (I thought they were pretty clever ;-)  )

Ward Halloween Party:
Walking there:

Playing games:

I was Professor McGonagall:

Ray was my pumpkin (he was supposed to be Scabbers, but I forgot to glue some ears and a tail to his brown outfit so he went as a pumpkin instead).

Walking home:

I just realized I didn't get any pictures of Rock.  He was wearing a hooded cape (a dementor or a death eater - we're not sure - some people thought he was Snape).

Trick-or-treating:

A firefighter stopped to give them some treats:

Bazinks came in a little early from trick-or-treating and decided to have a bite of about half of his pieces of his candy (and he put the rest back).  He just has to know what each one tastes like and then he offers the rest to someone else.  It's too cute.  I hope he's not too dissapointed when he runs out of candy and everyone else has a lot left.  Maybe they'll be nice enough to share with him...

My parents also stopped by that night, brought some "bread of the dead" and told the kids some scary stories and pranks from their childhood.  Then Rock, Spice and I went out to a "spookyard" that one of our neighbors put on - it was quite intense.  We heard people screaming from it from a block away!

Good times.

  1. Oh, my goodness! I love that you made your own Gryffindor/Hogwarts costumes! That is so awesome. My kids are going to die when I show them this! The best part is, they are now fully equipped to play Harry Potter all year round.

  2. I love the outfits and your posts! You are such a great Mom. I have a lot to learn from you. I wish I had the patience to do all you do. I thought I was a patient woman but not so much :D You are pretty great, K. One thing, though, Why does everyone have weird names on here? I have to keep referring back to the pics on the side to know who you are talking about :D

  3. Hey Riss - Thanks so much for your sweet comment!! I consider you a very very patient person so don't cut yourself short! Thanks for the compliments though. They mean a lot coming from you.
I gave the funny names just because I didn't make this blog a private blog. Maybe I'm just paranoid, but I just try to put in as little personal information as I can just in case.
