  3. Just from what I have read last night, it echoes the thoughts and promptings that have been coming to me recently--that of working on relationships and family work. That old saying "Your kids don't care how much you know, until they know how much you care", has been going through my mind. And I really need to be freed from feeling like they have to be "punished" by staring at the corner, when they've done something that needs to remove them from my presence for a time. Things would probably go much smoother (especially with our oldest daughter Luv Bug), if she got to go to the toy area to think about her behavior instead of the corner. I try only to use the corner for calming down emotionally out of control kiddo's anyway, but Luv won't usually do much of what she's asked to do and ends up there more than any of us would like. There is SO MUCH value in understanding how overwhelming new chores and tasks can be for kiddo's. I am re-committing myself to 3 things right now:
    1. Relationships that are loving and nurtured
    2. Learning as a family about what it means to really work. (Family History stories about our pioneer heritage and the work they did daily.)
    3. What I have always called "Job Training", in our home. (step by step chore instructions and training.) Basically, using The 1% Principle that Jodie Palmer speaks of, to help me tackle big issues, a little at a time! :0)

  4. Those are great things to work on Ranee! I also realized I need to do better with "job training". It takes work and sometimes I'd rather just be happy with their efforts, but I know it's not good for them in the long run. Thanks for sharing your thoughts!
